Hello, I'm Christian R. Orozco
Professional Experience
Below you will find a comprehensive collection of my professional experiences. Each position has been an important part of my career, and provided important tools to develop both personally and professionally. If you’re interested in references or learning more about my background, feel free to contact me directly which you will find at the bottom of the page.

Recovery Coach
May 2017 - April 2021
As a Recovery Coach I supported clients in their efforts to manage their addiction by working with them one on one to set goals towards achieving positive change in their lives. Due to the clients having a DCFS (department of children and family services) case, I assisted clients in developing their parenting skills and designed group activities for them and their children who also lived in the facility. This experience allowed me to develop teaching, goal setting, and mental health counseling skills.

Addictions Counselor
May 2021 - May 2022
As an Addictions Counselor I conducted individual and group counseling (IOP, OP, Intervention, and Continuing Care), as well as Psychoeducation. Much of my work was focused on building therapeutic relationships with clients, developing communication skills to engage them in treatment, and identifying obstacles to minimize their impact. The role as an Addictions Counselor would have been exponentially more difficult if it wasn't for the support of my peers and the insight of my supervisor. There would be weekly team meetings that look to address strengths, weaknesses and brainstorm ideas to improve our work.

UX Designer
July 2022 - present
I entered the field of UX through the Google UX Design Certificate course. In this course I learned about the philosophy behind UX design such as identifying implicit bias, the importance of empathy in design, keeping an inclusive mind frame, and much more. Through this course I was able to develop projects from conception to delivery using both Figma and Adobe Xd. The development of these projects involved iterating on designs, conducting usability studies, doing research through competitive audits, and developing wireframes and prototypes. It has been a rewarding experience and I look forward to learning more in this field.
